This simple popcorn takes less than fifteen minutes to make and is a perfect party appetizer, hostess gift or classroom treat. Feel free to add a handful or two of chopped pecans, dried cranberries or chocolate chips to the mix for additional flavour.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 cup popcorn kernels
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 Tsp. cinnamon
- 1 Tsp. cumin
- 2 Tsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tsp. kosher salt
1. Place the oil and popcorn in a large pot set over medium heat and cover with the lid.
2. Leave the popcorn, shaking the pot back and forth a few times to keep the kernels moving, and keep it on the stove until all of the popcorn has been popped. Remove the pot from the heat and dump the popcorn in a large bowl.
3. In a separate small pot, melt the butter, cinnamon, cumin, chili powder, sugar and salt. Pour it over the popcorn and stir with a wooden spoon to evenly distribute the spiced butter.
Tip: The popcorn can be made several days in advance, and stored in an airtight container for up to five days.
